“…..Hi, I assume that the reason you are looking at the site is because you are interested in starting some form of physical and mental activity. I have always played an active role in sports from a very young age and have participated in the martial arts for over 15 years. I personally believe that activity in sports has helped me to achieve academically as well as physically. I just completed a Ba (Hons) degree in English and History at University. Whilst in my second and third (final) years of my degree I participated in three martial arts world championships and two Irish Dance world Championships, not to mention other national events. It is my goal to help as many people in life as possible through the practice of martial arts. There are so many ways in which you can achieve within the sport and they are not just competitive and belt success….” Rebecca Kane Chief instructor

For over 15 years, Rebecca has had the honour and privilege of training with many instructors in various arts. The determination that she has shown in all of her classes has been well recognised and encouraged by her instructors and coaches. It is this focus and devotion to her skills that have taken her around the world several times to compete in major competitions including European and even world championships. The same level of enthusiasm and devotion continues to shine through as she passes on her knowledge to others who have joined her in the Kane Academy. With her own unique style and incorporation of the multiple arts she has trained in, not only does her Practical Kombat system allow students to experience a range of skills whilst mastering their chosen art, it also teaches them, as the name suggests, practical skills in order to protect themselves in today’s society. Everything that she does is done with great confidence which is also evident in her students as they practice the skills she is passing down to them.

Kane Academy of Martial Arts Aims!

  1. To bring people from all walks of life together in a sport that has numerous health benefits as well as self defence skills.
  2. To overcome obesity which is becoming an issue in this day and age.
  3. To reduce stress levels which are rapidly increasing due to the current climate.
  4. To reduce street crime by creating something to chanel excess energy.
  5. To help people feel more confident and safe when walking down the street.

Parents are more worried about their children joining gangs and loitering on street corners. There is the belief that there is nothing out there for them! Something I hear to often is this “Its not like it used to be where you could go places and do stuff…”

As a community we can stamp all the above issues out!

By joining the Kane Academy in either a fitness (Non contact class) or one of our various martial arts classes people will be motivated to shed those pounds!

It has been proven that exercise can rapidly reduce stress levels.

The Kane Academy provides an alternative for children. Parents can feel safe that their young and older ones are going SOMEWHERE and DOING something that will have POSITIVE benefits on their lives and the people around them.

“As a community: If we kick together we will stick together.” Sifu Rebecca Kane Chief Instructor and Founder of The Kane Academy

 Worried about price?

Our club offers some of the most affordable rates around. Here is a reference that one of our longstanding students has written regarding tuition fees:

“I looked at several clubs before joining the Kane Academy. Others were charging twice if not treble the amount and did not have half the certifications Sifu has not to mention the numerous titles she has won which puts her a step above the rest in my eyes. When she gave me her price sheet I laughed thinking to myself this is excellent value. I asked why she didn't charge more and her answer was:  its not about the money. Its about helping people and changing their outlooks on life for the better.” Jonny Farmer

What does Guro say about this?

“To me being a martial arts instructor is a calling in life. Money is necessary as there are large overheads and running costs needed to run any club and group. (Just look at all the parent and toddlers groups and drama groups that have closed due to lack of funds) I believe that my main duty as a martial arts instructor is to motivate people and help them achieve fitness and martial art goals. I set my fees at affordable rates based on the type of class so that my club is accessible to people from all walks of life and thusly bring people from all sectors of the community together. “ Guro Rebecca Kane
